On June 19th, 2007, the 8th grade class of FA Day Middle School partied like rock stars on the Boston Odyssey Cruise and at the Farewell Dance.

My attempt to film my third eclipse from the deck of the Costa Fortuna cruise liner in the middle of the Mediterranean sea. I was there with a group of 150 Italian students who I had travelled with from Reggio Calabria, many who were making there first big journey away from home. The shot might be a little boring as it is a lock off of me filming with a 16mm Bolex clockwork film camera. Of interest to me is to watch the horizon as the eclipse unfold. I will post the actual footage I shoot soon. Also, even though I had practiced what I was going to do for the previous three days, I made the simplest mistake in the book when it came to the day. I forgot to take the filter off the lens which protected my eyes as I framed the shot untill well into the event. You must take it off as soon as totallity occurs in order ti film. Idiot! This mistake cost me the first few takes of filming! I hope I will do better next time!

Filmed for the deck of the Italian Cruise Liner the Costa Fortuna in 2006. These three total eclipse shots of the sun were filmed with a 16mm Bolex film camera. You can see me filming these shots in my other video below titled: Eclipse 2006 Mediterranean. Also, you will see that in the filming shoot the sky is a lovely dark blue. When you actually witness the eclipse with your eyes, it is not surrounded by a black sky. It is really beautiful and the sky is full of color. It is just a problem with exposures that makes it impossible to film an eclipse as you really see it. this is way it is a must to try and see one in the flesh. My plans is to film all my eclipse expeditions in the hope that I can capture a bit of the experience to share with you. My African eclipse clip below is just a trailer for the full documentary I am working on which will cover all my adventures. So far I have only been to three eclipses. The really great one I hope to see will cross over Easter Island in July 2010.
